| Software Engineer Intern We are currently looking for a highly motivated and intelligent individual to fill the position of SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERN. Summary Statement: The Software Engineer Intern role has two components. The first component, which is the main focus of the position, is the software engineering component and involves participating in the design, development, implementation, testing, quality assurance, and maintenance of all layers and aspects of our clients' products and systems. The software engineering aspect has significant hands-on coding responsibilities on a high-volume, high-availability production system, and requires a strong background in computer science and web development with knowledge of the full software development life cycle. Furthermore, the software engineer aspect of the position requires an individual capable of forward thinking particularly with respect to performance and scaling requirements. The second component of the position involves systems support. This is on an as-needed basis and is not expected to be the focus of the position. However, this aspect of the position will require an individual who is flexible in terms of shifting between tasks and is able to respond to and troubleshoot problems effectively as they arise. Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 1. Collaborate and develop comprehensive functional specifications and work estimates based on those specifications 2. Work with the client and internal teams to design, develop and test applications according to specifications 3. Contribute creative ideas to the product development pipeline 4. Assist system administration function in the installation and implementation of servers as well as in systems planning, monitoring, support and maintenance 5. Support and troubleshoot systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving production problems and providing timely status updates 6. Help develop and maintain coding standards, best practices and provide suggestions for application and product development 7. Maintain confidentiality regarding the technology and business of our clients and company at all times 8. Other responsibilities associated with providing excellent levels of customer service when troubleshooting system issues or providing systems support as assigned by the manager. Education Requirements and/or Work Experiences: This position requires superior problem-solving skills and a strong working knowledge of business systems and production floor real-time systems. 1. Successful completion of intermediate courses towards a computer science degree in software engineering or equivalent 2. Demonstrated knowledge of multiple Microsoft server technologies 3. Strong background in the use of networking protocols and the maintenance of network security 4. Experience building highly scalable / performance optimized code a strong plus 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills 6. Exceptional creative problem solving and analysis capabilities 7. Ability to work under tight schedules across multiple projects simultaneously 8. We are looking to build a team with complementary skills, so you need not be an expert in all web technologies, but: a. Experience with all of the following technologies are ideal: C#, XML, SOAP webservices, java, php, javascript and asp.net b.
