Centre Instructor/Director We are seeking an energetic and organized individual who loves children to run our company-owned model centre. The Centre Director will implement the Kumon Math and Reading programs with children ranging from pre-school to high school, personally instructing students at each centre session, preparing their lesson plans, and establishing effective relationships with students and parents. He or she is expected to hire, train, supervise and evaluate all centre staff; administer the centre within a pre-approved budget; implement all company policies and meet enrollment and quality goals. Our model centres also support the operations of Kumon Canada by serving as a training centre for new staff and franchisees, and a test centre for new products and instructional strategies. Job Requirements: • Conduct individualized instruction for students of all ages and abilities • Provide individual learning plans for students based on student’s ability to master subjects • Work independently while effectively developing partnerships with colleagues in other offices • Operate the centre with a pre-approved budget • Operate the centre with the objective of achieving pre-set quality and growth targets • Hire, train and supervise all centre staff • Present the Kumon Method effectively to a wide variety of audiences including parents, and (when necessary) prospective franchisees, educators and community leaders • Organize regular special events for centre including monthly group parent orientations and annual award ceremonies • Develop product knowledge through ongoing intensive study of the Kumon Math and Reading Worksheets and the Kumon Instruction Manual • Adhere to intensive training schedule for at least the first three months of the job; • Attend all monthly instructor meetings which may involve travel • Interact with co-workers, franchisees, parents, students, etc. in a friendly and professional manner at all times Required Qualification • Bachelors Degree preferably in Business Administration, Education or Psychology • Past experience and passion working with children • Teaching or Corporate Training experience • Strong Reading and Mathematics proficiency (high school algebra) • Strong business acumen • Ability to work independently • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) • Some supervisory or management experience or experience in operating a small business is preferred • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills • Strong presentation skills • Comfortable using a PC and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Math and Reading Proficiency Tests will be administered. Scores of 80% on both are required for consideration. The math test is four pages and contains two pages of pre-algebra and two pages of algebra. The Reading Test if approximately eight pages long and contains various grammar and reading Comprehension Questions. Metrotown Kumon Centre (Burnaby, BC) – This is a full-time position. Class preparation and administrative responsibilities occur during the day Monday – Friday while after school class sessions are held Tuesday – Friday from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. | |
