Linux Kernel Software Developer

Empower is seeking a highly-motivated and talented intermediate to senior Linux kernel software developer. The successful candidate will be responsible for porting Linux kernels and developing device drivers for embedded Linux devices.

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

5+ years hands-on experience in:
• Porting Linux kernels;
• Developing Linux kernel device drivers;
• Developing C/C++ code for ARM cores using GNU tools;
• Network programming using TCP/IP;
• Multithreaded programming; and
• Real-time software development.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Embedded software development experience
• Telecommunications and wireless networks
• Object Oriented Analysis & Design
• UML;

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Well organized and details oriented;
• In depth knowledge of current engineering standards and best practices for software design, development, documentation, testing, validation and support;
• Ability to establish work priorities, effectively multi-task and balance varying demands;
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member;
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
• Ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.

EDUCATION:
A Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Sciences
