Controller – $85 – $105K

Our client in downtown Vancouver is seeking a hands-on dynamic controller to build and lead the finance department. You will be a designated accountant with several years experience working in senior finance roles in the hospitality and service industries. You will have excellent communications and the ability to take on new exciting projects as needed building your team for performance and value. Major Responsibilities

* Build a top finance team capable of completing all tasks
* Manage monthly and annual financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes and lead cost efficiency improvement projects, where appropriate.
* Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management and reporting
* Lead and develop a finance team that delivers consistent, first-class financial service through setting high personal standards and in developing excellent relationships with the business community.
* Proactively liaise and collaborate with management group to ensure business performance reporting and planning processes are aligned and optimized
* Develop strategic options to improve business efficiency, grow the business and enhance profitability.
* Contribute to the business strategy by clearly understanding all pressing business issues, competitive threats, and opportunities.
* Develop and maintain financial planning process and models to support business driver-based forecast and analysis
* Provide in-depth financial analysis and recommend of all new business opportunities, potential capital expenditures.
* Create a high performance culture by promoting an energized environment and opportunities for individuals to grow.
* Improve the quality of financial reporting, planning, analysis support through process improvement

Qualifications

* A professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) is required
* 5 or more years of experience in the hospitality/hotel/resort industry is required
* Excellent organizational skills, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Experience in financial statement preparation in accordance with Canadian GAAP
* Demonstrated strong analytical skills, a tactical thinker, ability to analyze and translate data into strategic implementations and proactive solutions
* Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build a following both in and out of the organization
* Superb oral and written communication skills with the ability to concisely and crisply summarize results and presents recommendations with authority
* High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
* Highly motivated, energy and enjoys multi-tasking
* Leverages networks and resources for optimum outcomes
