| Confidential Assistant – Hearings The British Columbia College of Teachers is the professional regulatory body for educators in B.C. Due to continued growth at the College we are pleased to announce that a new opportunity has arisen in the Professional Conduct Department for a Confidential Assistant. In this role you will provide secretarial and administrative support to the Hearing Coordinator/Paralegal, Director of Professional Conduct and department as a whole. The selected candidate must be a strong team player who is able to contribute effectively and participate equitably in duties as assigned. This position will appeal to an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, who can adapt to change and can function independently. The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in handling contentious, sensitive and confidential matters with utmost tact and discretion. Working under the direction of the Hearing Coordinator/Paralegal, you will be responsible for the administration process in relation to Hearings. This challenging role also offers the opportunity for interaction with members and other organizations involved with this process. Due to the high volume of work it is essential to have demonstrated skills in prioritizing and organization of workload. Other related responsibilities include providing administrative support as required to the Director, Professional Conduct and in-house Legal Counsel, and working as part of the administration support team. To succeed you must be effective in all areas of communication, as there will be a requirement to deal with members, witnesses, external and internal legal counsel and related organizations on matters pertaining to specific cases. The ideal candidate will have completed secondary school and preferably possess formal training in business or legal education; a minimum of 3 years’ senior administrative/secretarial experience, and have the proven ability to delegate and perform well under deadlines and pressure.
