The British Columbia College of Teachers is the professional regulatory body for educators in B.C.

Reporting to the Director, Professional Conduct this role offers an exceptional opportunity to enjoy challenging work with a hardworking team of passionate professionals.

The successful candidate will:
Assist in the coordination and investigation of discipline cases and fitness applications.
Investigates discipline and fitness cases as directed by Preliminary Investigation Sub-Committee (PISC) or Fitness Investigation Sub-Committee (FISC).
Provide affidavit evidence and testimonial at a disciplinary hearing or provincial court setting.
Undertake a variety of tasks issuing from Investigation such as: locating witnesses, interviewing, acquiring and analyzing relevant data.
Act as a liaison with a variety of individuals/groups including teachers, vice-Principals, principals, administrative staff, superintendents, students, witnesses, physicians, psychiatrists, police agencies, applicants, the judiciary, Crown Council, lawyers, the BCTF, court registry, probation officers, correction officers, social workers, penitentiary officials and other federal, provincial, municipal and private agencies.
Provide support to the Professional Conduct Department in relation to the investigation process.
Supervise a Confidential Assistant.
Be required to travel, primarily within the province of British Columbia.
Be willing to work flexible hours if necessary to ensure that the operational objectives of the College are achieved.

The ideal candidate possesses
Undergraduate degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience.
Some legal background or education, particularly in the area of administrative law or knowledge of professional regulation would be an asset.
Investigative and interviewing training and skills.
Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.
Excellent interpersonal skills including a high degree of sensitivity to matters of a confidential nature.
Knowledge of the British Columbia school system: K-12 system, independent and off-shore schools
A current understanding of the educational, legal, and organizational knowledge and skills required for the position, including an understanding of the Teaching Profession Act, School Act, Independent School Act, and the Criminal Code of Canada.
Requires travel, primarily within the province of British Columbia.
